Signs That Your Promotional Merchandise Isn’t Effective

July 8, 2019 //  by Anna//  Leave a Comment

Even if you say that your use of Promotional Notebooks is to thank people for their loyalty, you can’t deny that its primary goal is to advertise your brand. You want people to accept these products and eventually decide to patronise what you offer. Therefore, it’s frustrating if your efforts don’t produce positive results. You still fail to see a significant increase in the number of people choosing your products. These are some other signs that tell you it’s time to change your promotional merchandise because it’s not working.

No one uses it

Perhaps, you decided to distribute items that people didn’t find useful at all. You also thought that you would only spend a small amount as long as you could distribute something for free. You could barely write the name or logo of your company on the item that you gave out.

Another reason why no one would want to use your promotional merchandise is that it seems too obvious that you’re making the recipients your unpaid models. For instance, if you hand out shirts, and you use a large font to write the name of your company. Perhaps, the recipients will wear it at home, but not in public. It defeats your purpose of handing out items for promotion.

People don’t even know what you’re promoting

You need to be subtle in using Branded Merchandise for advertising; otherwise, no one will use it. People don’t want to feel that you’re turning them into brand ambassadors. However, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t write anything on the promotional merchandise at all. Your company name, logo or tag line are crucial elements. You need at least one of them to be present on the promotional item. Be creative in determining where to place these promotional elements, so they are visible.

The items are of terrible quality

Another reason why people don’t want to use your promotional items is that they are of terrible quality. For instance, you decided to hand out pens that couldn’t even write an entire page. You also have paperweights that don’t hold any weight at all. If you’re giving out items for free, you can’t compromise on quality; otherwise, it’s best not to give anything at all.

You need to evaluate why people don’t like using or wearing the items that you gave to them. These items are free, so you expect that people will accept and use them. If not, there’s something wrong with what you gave, if no one wanted to use it.

Come up with a new plan to hand out free items next time. In the future, you might want to consider the quality of what you’re giving away. Suspend any plans to offer promotional items if the budget is tight. Instead, use your money on other things rather than an unsatisfactory item no one wants to receive. Wait until your company is financially capable of handing out high-quality free stuff.
