Possible Reasons Why More Young People Decide to End Their Lives

November 1, 2019 //  by Anna//  Leave a Comment

It’s unfortunate, but a lot of young people decide to end their lives. It’s a phenomenon that exists not only in the US but all over the world. Several lives got wasted because of this sad reality. It’s crucial to understand why it happens and what needs to get done to stop it from getting worse.

People feel alone

It’s so sad to know that a lot of young people feel like they can’t trust anyone or run to someone for help. In the age of social media where almost all interactions are virtual, it’s easy for many people to feel like they don’t belong. They think that no one cares about them and they don’t matter at all.

Society can be overwhelming

It’s also possible for some people to feel like they have no place in this world. The world moves too quickly. Each day, there’s a challenge to face and problems to solve. Some people might find the courage to overcome these issues, but others would rather give up.

There are mean people

Bullies have always been around. The problem is that not everyone is capable of dealing with these bullies. Some people decide to end their lives instead of confronting those who caused their misery. It’s unfortunate that these people decide to become mean instead of showing kindness to everyone. For them, it’s just for fun, but for people who are already under immense stress, it’s the end of the rope.

No one seems to listen

We live in a demanding world. Everyone needs to find a way to survive. We already lost the human touch. Everyone wants to say something, but no one is eager to listen. As such, those who felt like they couldn’t count on anyone decided to simply end their lives.

Parents have to work harder

Before, most parents worked hard to provide for their kids, but still had enough time for family. Given how difficult the economy is, many parents have to work several jobs. As a result, they can’t guide their kids while growing up. Children have to survive without the love and guidance of their parents. Since they lack proper guidance from the people who are supposed to be there for them, they fail to take the right path moving forward.

The world can be so violent

Children get easily influenced by what they see around them. When they see violence all over the place, whether it’s on TV or on the streets, it’s easy for them to think that it’s the norm. They tend to follow these acts. When they can’t be violent to others, they end up being violent to themselves. They don’t have enough information on how to navigate what they see around them.

Hopefully, things will change. For those who feel like they don’t have hope, the truth is that there are a lot of people who are willing to help. For instance, you can check out Counseling Chicago if you feel like you don’t know what else to do. Life is too precious, and it doesn’t deserve to end early.
