Tips To Survive An Escape Room Within The Given Time

May 19, 2018 //  by Anna//  Leave a Comment

Escape rooms are filled with challenges. There are puzzles, riddles and other challenges that you have to finish. If that is not difficult enough, you will be asked to finish everything within a given time. The good thing is that you will be doing this challenge as a group. You have to work together to get things done within the given time.

Some groups that have tried escape room games have survived the challenge. Others felt frustrated because they were unable to open the room in time. If you are heading to an escape room challenge, here are some tips to help you.

Book the entire room with your friends

It will be a lot easier to play an escape room if you are comfortable with the people you are working with. It also feels less stressful since you can have fun while playing. To make sure that only your group will be in that room, determine the minimum number of allowable players in advance and finalise your reservation.

Don’t play with the maximum number of allowed players

Although some rooms allow up to 10 people in one room, don’t max out. You will hear more voices while playing, to the point where it might get confusing. Check the size of the room before determining how many players you want to play.

Create a code

Even before you start playing, you need to have codes or signals that everyone understands. Let every member know when a clue has been unlocked or one task has become too difficult to finish. This is better than yelling at each other constantly. However, these codes must be clear. If someone gets a clue, it has to be relayed to others as quickly and as loudly as possible.

Divide tasks according to strengths

You don’t have to work at the same station when you can get things done separately. Play on your strengths. Those who are good at solving puzzles must work on that station while others who can deal with more physical tasks can move to where they are located.

Avoid being in the same area

It is also useless if you clump around the same puzzle just because you feel like it is too difficult to solve. If the said puzzle is already challenging, there is nothing much that can be done about it. You just have to look for other tasks to work on. Spread out and work on things quickly. This is not the time to be in one area to brainstorm.

Don’t do everything

Just because you feel like you are smart, and you have experience with an escape room before, it does not mean you are the only person who can get the job done. Other members might also have the skills necessary. You just have to trust them. You can be a leader if you were chosen by the group, but try not to take on all the tasks, as this will just delay things.

Be smart in making decisions and above all be a team player.
