If you haven’t tried playing VR games, now might be the best time. In every major gaming platform, VR is becoming a norm. Not only in gaming, but other entertainment companies are also finding new and exciting ways to use virtual reality. Omescape, for example, has mixed their escape room games with virtual reality. The result is their Huxley VR Escape Games, which let you play a VR game in an entirely new way.
When you look up the current VR games, you’ll find that a lot of them have appeared in the last couple of years. Many of the big game companies have released VR games based on popular titles. Some are original games that are made by brand new studios but are becoming pretty popular in the VR community.
No doubt that VR will keep becoming more and more popular. But some people may still be sceptical about the popularity of VR games. Is it an actual evolution in how people play video games, or is it just another fad that will fade away?
There are a lot of reasons why you should try out VR games.
- VR Games are fun
At the heart of the motivation for developing VR is the idea that it will be a new medium of electronic entertainment. What that means is that VR was supposed to be fun. It’s essentially an electronic toy. And that’s what has drawn a lot of people to it: users and developers alike. It’s fun. It’s a new way of seeing the world for its users and developers.
- They are becoming the norm
When the social community discovered VR, it became an overnight hit. Thousands customised their avatars and went online to explore and chat with people. Soon everyone was hanging out together, and the VR community of users was finally established.
- They keep getting better
Improvements are still being made to VR machines and headsets. Just two years ago, the notion of a VR headset was a bulky machine that made it hard to stand up, and it also emitted great amounts of heat. Now it’s as simple as using a headset made with cardboard and a high-resolution smartphone as the screen. If such developments continue at the same pace, you will likely have headsets that will be lighter than a modern smartphone.
- VR is the future
In the past, TV, games and movies were three separate media with a completely different list of devices needed to create and use them. That was slowly unified with the coming of the digital age. Now, you can play games and watch any show and movie on a PC or smartphone, finally uniting the three media in one device. VR will be the next step forward regarding realism and entertainment where the limit is the developer’s imagination and technology.
VR will provide another interface for electronic entertainment. Games, movies, and shows will gain a new medium that can open hundreds of other possibilities. VR will keep improving and push the limits of entertainment to new heights.
