Arnon Dror – How to Lead Effectively in Tough Situations

May 29, 2018 //  by Anna//  Leave a Comment

Leadership combines a set of qualities most of which are learned over long time spent following. A large part of leadership is doing those things that creates relationship with others that allows them to lead you. You have to do things like prove yourself, show that you are interested in their well-being, and demonstrate that you understand the gold and how to reach it. Once these things have been established there is an additional set of qualities that you must possess in order to lead.

For leaders like Portland Oregon based Arnon Dror, who is been a high-level professional assuming many rolls by senior operations executive and VP of Finance at several large companies, leadership comes from adhering to a few clearly drawn principles and strategies. At each of his jobs he’s had to lead under tough situations, he is found that by hearing to these principles and strategies he has been able to not only meet the demands for success, but surpass expectations. With this in mind he offers a few of these principles and strategies for you to consider utilizing in your capacity as a leader.

Focus Everyone on the Big Picture

When something goes wrong and you are no longer on course to achieve your goals your team will likely struggle with believing whether you will actually ever make it. It is during these times that everyone’s confidence and faith is tested. Having a failure particularly if it is unexpected can cause your team to completely lose its focus along with his confidence.

As a leader you need to take charge and get everyone refocused on the end goal. Remind them that everyone has failures and it is those that can turn those failures into opportunities, who reach the final victory. Go over what is occurred and what will happen next always talking in the context of your team being capable of reaching the final goal.

Exude Success

If you are ever around a real leader, you will see that he’s someone that exudes success. He talks about it, he acts like it is the only logical outcome, and he gets others to feel the same. This demeanor is really useful when times get tough. You must have an overwhelming amount of confidence to get you and your team through these times.

So you must become an expert and trafficking success. Only talked about that as your possible outcome and only make plans with your team that are built around succeeding. The result will be that other than your team we’ll walk, talk, and act the same. During a difficult time this process will move the group towards believing they can win.

Remain Calm

You can plan forĀ and even expect victory and sometimes find that you have the largest defeat that you have ever had. Every attempt to get something important done always carries the risk that it may not happen. Good leaders know that this is the case and always are prepared to deal with defeat gracefully.

If things are going poorly, your demeanor sets the tone for how your team will act and feel going forward. With this in mind, you want to remain calm as possible, and work your way through the failure so you can quickly move on to your next victory. This will not be easy and your emotions will certainly be telling you to do otherwise, but you should rely on your intellect, which says that to reach a victory you must often go through defeat.

Arnon Dror has managed through many tough situations and come out on the other side smarter, and more prepared to deal with challenges that occur in the future.
