Megan survived the plane crash—but can she survive the aftermath? An intense, emotional novel from the author of The Unwritten Rule and Between Here and Forever.
Megan is a miracle. At least, that’s what everyone says. Having survived a plane crash that killed everyone else on board, Megan knows she should be grateful just to be alive. But the truth is, she doesn’t feel like a miracle. In fact, she doesn’t feel anything at all. Then memories from the crash start coming back.
Scared and alone, Megan doesn’t know whom to turn to. Her entire community seems unable—or maybe unwilling—to see her as anything but Miracle Megan. Everyone except for Joe, the beautiful boy next door with a tragic past and secrets of his own. All Megan wants is for her life to get back to normal, but the harder she tries to live up to everyone’s expectations, the worse she feels. And this time, she may be falling too fast to be saved…

Miracle by Elizabeth Scott is a powerful and raw story about a teen struggling to cope with life as the sole survivor of a deadly plane crash. Masterfully told by Scott, Megan’s story is equal parts bone-rattling and soul-strengthening.
From the haunting first sentence on, I felt like I was experiencing the trauma of the plane crash — and its aftermath — right alongside of her. My heart was racing and my fingers were shaking.
I’ve loved Elizabeth Scott for years, but Miracle may be my favorite example of her work yet. I love her romances, I do — there’s a touch of it in this book too — but what Miracle helped me realize is that what I love most about her writing is how emotionally attached I get to her main characters.
And, oh boy, there are ALL THE EMOTIONS in this book. I was with Megan through all her highs and lows, and even when I thought she was acting batshit (pardon my language), I still felt for her and rooted for her.
Just…gah. Read this book. It is amazing, and I want to go give Elizabeth Scott a big, huge, amazing hug for writing it.

First of all, E. Scott? She’s an autoread for me. She wrote it, I’ll read it.
But beyond that, I really love the idea of this story. Survivor’s guilt is a powerful thing, and I think it’ll be fascinating to watch the characters battle through it.
Oh, okay, you got me…the “beautiful boy next door” part caught my eye too.

Of course, that doesn’t help her get noticed by her crush. Hannah’s sure that gorgeous, sensitive Josh is her soul mate. But trying to get him to notice her; wondering why she suddenly can’t stop thinking about another guy, Finn; and dealing with her parents make Hannah feel like she’s going crazy. Yet she’s determined to make things work out the way she wants — only what she wants may not be what she needs….
Once again, Elizabeth Scott has created a world so painfully funny and a cast of characters so heartbreakingly real that you’ll love being a part of it from unexpected start to triumphant finish.
So you’ll understand what it means when I say this: I’ve already reread two Elizabeth Scott books this year.
One of them was Something, Maybe. I cannot recommend it enough.
The only way I can think to describe Elizabeth’s writing is that she writes like she’s her reader’s best friend. She gets your thought processes, she makes you laugh, she knows just when to hit you in the head and when to hit you in the heart, and she knows a swoonworthy boy when she sees him.
Oh, boy, does she ever know her romance! In this book, ultimately, it’s all about the bumbling, blushing, kind-hearted fool of a boy. And I say bring it on! Finn is clearly the underdog, but he’ll make you “feel all wobbly even though you’re sitting down,” as Hannah puts it.
And the humor is just spot-on. You guys, this really is my favorite type of book. If you’re into contemporaries — think along the lines of Sarah Dessen — it’s a must-read.
PS: Don’t forget to enter here for a chance to win a FULL set of her book — donated by Elizabeth herself! Doesn’t get better than this, guys. Enter by 12 p.m. CST on Saturday.
