The deets…

About Someday, Someday, Maybe
From Lauren Graham, the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, comes a witty, charming, and hilariously relatable debut novel about a struggling young actress trying to get ahead―and keep it together―in New York City.

It’s January 1995, and Franny Banks has just six months left of the three-year deadline she set for herself when she came to New York, dreaming of Broadway and doing “important” work. But all she has to show for her efforts so far is a part in an ad for ugly Christmas sweaters, and a gig waiting tables at a comedy club. Her roommates―her best friend Jane, and Dan, an aspiring sci-fi writer―are supportive, yet Franny knows a two-person fan club doesn’t exactly count as success. Everyone tells her she needs a backup plan, and though she can almost picture moving back home and settling down with her perfectly nice ex-boyfriend, she’s not ready to give up on her goal of having a career like her idols Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep. Not just yet. But while she dreams of filling their shoes, in the meantime, she’d happily settle for a speaking part in almost anything—and finding a hair product combination that works.

Everything is riding on the upcoming showcase for her acting class, where she’ll finally have a chance to perform for people who could actually hire her. And she can’t let herself be distracted by James Franklin, a notorious flirt and the most successful actor in her class, even though he’s suddenly started paying attention. Meanwhile, her bank account is rapidly dwindling, her father wants her to come home, and her agent doesn’t return her calls. But for some reason, she keeps believing that she just might get what she came for.

Someday, Someday, Maybe is a story about hopes and dreams, being young in a city, and wanting something deeply, madly, desperately. It’s about finding love, finding yourself, and perhaps most difficult of all in New York City, finding an acting job.

Oh my god, this is amazing — I had no idea Lauren Graham was coming out with a book! She’s currently filming a movie in Norcross, GA, literally one block away from my dad’s business… and my Gilmore Girls-obsessed older sister and I have made plans to stop by this weekend and see what we can see! I absolutely adore Lauren Graham and so does my sister, whose birthday is coming up — this book will be hers for her birthday whether I win it here or not! :D

I know that feeling, in which you wanna give up your future just to have something familiar that you know you had once in the past. I’m not sure if I’ll like this book because it’s focused on the big life in New York with people who are trying to make it big, but making it won’t be as cliche-y as I think.

I really hope it’s good. I do love Lauren Graham as an actor, and Girlmore Girls was one of my favorite shows growing up. Still, I hope she writes as well as she acts. ^_^ I definitely want to read it since Graham wrote it.

I used to love Gilmore Girls when it was on and if she’s as funny in her book as her character was, I think I will enjoy this! I don’t usually have as high hopes for a book when it’s written by a “celebrity” since I’ve been disappointed with some in the past.

Honestly, I’ve never really gotten into Gilmore Girls, but everyone really recommends it. I think this book it totally worth a read though, especially since lots of the seniors at my theatre this year are going off to become acting/music majors and want to pursue things like Franny!

Gilmore Girls is the show I turn to when I’m stressed out. Seeing and hearing the opening song is like coming home, like getting a hug from your mom or your best friend, the tension just lifts and I feel at ease, like everything is going to be okay. I love Lauren Graham’s signature blend of humor and heart, and can’t wait to (hopefully) find it in her new book!

Most of the girls on my college dorm floor would get together on Tuesday nights to watch Gilmore Girls. We’d sing the theme song, and just have a good time. Recently I had a Gilmore Girls marathon simply because I could. LOVE that show so much. I still hope for a movie.

Something substantial? Oh boy, that’s a tall order. Well, suffice it to say, we adore Gilmore Girls (and in fact are rewatching it on Netflix right now!!) and can’t believe that Lorelai– ER, Lauren Graham, wrote a book. How cool! Well, whether we win or not, we definitely want to get our hands on this book, to see if she is as witty, charming, and lovable in print as she is on screen. ;)

I LOVE Lauren! I started watching the Gilmore Girls in 2007 when my daughter was little and I was instantly hooked. (Thanks to GG I discovered the gorgeous Jared Padalecki – rawr) The whole series sits on my shelf now. I watched Parenthood for over 2 seasons but it was stressing me out so I quit.

I have been so excited for this book. I didn’t watch Gilmore Girls until after it ended. Fortunately, ABC Family has played GG every weekday morning at 11 am for years. When i was still in college and my schedule allowed for lazy mornings,my sister and I would watch Gilmore Girls almost every day.Lauren Graham comes of similarly quirky to Lorelei in her interviews, so i imagine that “Someday, Someday, Maybe” will be just as great. The story line seems to be right up my alley! Can’t wait to read it. Thanks for the giveaway.

Always loved Gilmore Girls- Definitely was one of the shows that helped define you (along with Dawsons Creek and Veronica Mars)- and two of my favorite authors that write about “show business” are Elizabeth Euhlberg- snarky fun and girl powered- and Joanna Philbin (yes that Philbin) she knows the business from an insider perspective and her books are heart felt and charming. Thanks for the giveaway!

I never saw Gilmore Girls, but I love Parenthood! And this book sounds great. When I was growing up in Montana, my plan was to move to New York City and do something big, I wasn’t sure what, but something that would make my mark. Plans change, and I never made it to New York, which worked out perfectly for me, but I would love to read the story of someone living young Kamie’s dream.

Oh my goodness. I’ve been hearing about this book on a few blogs lately and I cannot wait to read it. I haven’t been this excited for a book that I’ve been (impatiently) waiting for in a while. Like so many other commenters, Gilmore Girls holds a special place in my heart. My mom and my sister got me into it and it helped me out of my literary snobbish “I don’t watch tv” phase. I’m a big fan of Lauren Graham and so excited that she’s a writer, too!

I absolutely adore Lauren Graham! I like to think that her portrayal of Lorelei on Gilmore Girls was more than a little of herself and her real personality. In my fantasies, we somehow meet and are the very best of best friends. Foolish, yes but leave me to my dreams.
So you know I’ll be needing her debut novel. And thank you so much for giving her fans a chance at her book! I really can’t wait to see what other excellent creative endeavors she takes on. I know she’ll be wonderful!

I love Lauren Graham! Gilmore Girls is my very favorite TV show. I watched it from the very beginning, and I still watch the reruns on ABC Family. I have seen each episode at least ten times, and they never get old. My friends and I used to recap each new episode at school the day after it aired, and until today we still quote scenes and talk about Lorelei and Rory as if they are our friends. I cannot wait to read Lauren’s book!

Okay, how I did not know Lauren is an author baffles me. Gilmore Girls is seriously my most favorite tv show ever. Ever. When I was little I use to dream of growing up and becoming Rory. I prayed my mom could be as cool as Lorelei. And I swear my grandma was as crazy and mean as Emily on most occasions. This show was my life. Still is.
I watch Logan every week in The Good Wife. He plays Carrie, and my parents still haven’t figured out why I call him Logan instead. Can I just say I planned on marrying him myself. But honestly it was a hard decision between him and Jess. Both such excellent options.
I never meet people who watch the show though, and it breaks my heart. Not a single one of my friends watch it. So last week when I found out that this guy I was talking to classifies it as one of his favorite shows I immediately asked him to marry me. My mom says I was a tad over the top. But I think I like Gilmore Girls more than I like reading, and I hate watching tv. This show was more than just my childhood. It was my every aspiration.
To be able to win this book would be so amazing. It’s my birthday today, and finding out that Lauren has a book coming out next week is total excitement for me. Winning this would be the best birthday present ever. If not, I am definitely going to request it at the library. I cannot wait to get my hands on it. Even though I usually read young adult books, I can make an exception for such a fabulous author. :)
