Dear Teen Me
Publication date: Oct. 30, 2012
Zest Books, 192 pages
Source: Publisher
Dear Teen Me includes advice from over 70 YA authors (including Lauren Oliver, Ellen Hopkins, and Nancy Holder, to name a few) to their teenage selves. The letters cover a wide range of topics, including physical abuse, body issues, bullying, friendship, love, and enough insecurities to fill an auditorium. So pick a page, and find out which of your favorite authors had a really bad first kiss? Who found true love at 18? Who wishes he’d had more fun in high school instead of studying so hard? Some authors write diary entries, some write letters, and a few graphic novelists turn their stories into visual art. And whether you hang out with the theater kids, the band geeks, the bad boys, the loners, the class presidents, the delinquents, the jocks, or the nerds, you’ll find friends–and a lot of familiar faces–in the course of Dear Teen Me.
— Goodreads.com description
I just adore everything about this compilation book of essays from YA authors, so when I was asked to be a part of the Dear Teen Me Blog Tour, I knew I had to do one of my own…Anna style!
For a list of blogs participating and more information on the tour, click here. And, please, in the comments below, tell me: What would you tell YOUR teen self?

Oh, this is awesome! I love the video for your teen self.
I never really given this book much thought but now I’m going to have to reconsider.
Great post, Anna!

You are so freakin’ cute Anna! The beginning totally reminds me of the intro to Dawson’s Creek (I mean that in a good way haha), and the freeze frame? I knew you were a favourite for a reason. *NSYNC forever. (Love that you chose Wheatus for the song, too!) As for what I’d tell my teen self: He’ll hurt your heart but he’ll also be the reason you understand love. Senior year does count, but not as much as you thought. It will get much, much worse – but that makes the much, much better so much more worth it. And finally? Don’t hide how much you read. One day, it’ll be the source of happiness.
Can’t wait to read this book!

Teenage me would agree, WHOLEHEARTEDLY. But then I don’t know…JT changed my mind in retrospect. HAHA I could talk about the benefits of NSync vs. BSB for hours. It’s an issue really.

The only thing is, don’t rethink the pink hair. As you said: YOYO.

Adorable video, Anna! Such true advice for your teenage self. I would tell myself that one day I was going to love books and writing more than science and math. And I should have spent more time learning where to place my commas than memorizing the periodic table.

You are so adorable! This video is just too cute, and very YOU. I love it to pieces… especially the part about NSYNC being better than BSB (TOTALLY).
Also, I’d tell myself as a teen to be less afraid, and more open to possibilities. I missed out on a lot of things just because I was too fearful or timid.

This is my favorite post you have ever done. I wish I could go back and talk to preschool me and tell myself to be better friends with you so we wouldn’t have had to miss out on 15 years of being best friends.

The part about how NSYNC is better than BSB perfectly articulates why we are friends. Love it! Also, great choice of song.
