Pitch Perfect, AKA My New Favorite Movie Ever

My sister from another mister Tara and I were lucky enough to be invited to a pre-screening of Pitch Perfect about a month ago, and we just about died. We’d been talking about this movie since the trailer came out ages ago, as it had all the classic elements of Things Anna & Tara Like:

- College/YA-age characters
- Cute boys
- SINGING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Pitch Perfect really delivered. I’m a huge Anna Kendrick fan – she’s got amazing timing and is just pure hilarity. And now I’m a huge Skylar Astin fan too. *Swoon.* He’s my new boyfriend. Remember: I saw him first.

YOU’LL SEE. Watch the trailer:

The movie, from Universal Pictures, is in select theaters today, and opening everywhere Oct. 5.

Rebel Wilson was absolutely a standout — you know her as Kristin Wiig’s nasty/hilarious roommate from Bridesmaids, but I also loved Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), Adam DeVine (Workaholics), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin’ from Superbad) and a hundred other actors who just had KILLER lines. People will be quoting this movie non-stop. We could not stop laughing!

And the music! Let’s not forget the music! I love acapella music (hello, The Sing Off!), and all the numbers in Pitch Perfect were totally download-able. The next evening, we were still thinking about one particular scene and about how we wanted to go to a sing-off on the streets.

Check out the clip we were talking about:

The Soundtrack:

1. Don’t Stop The Music (The Treblemakers)
2. Let It Whip (The Treblemakers)
3. Since U Been Gone (Ester Dean, Skylar Astin)
4. Cups (Anna Kendrick)
5. Riff Off: Mickey/Like A Virgin/Hit Me With Your Best Shot/S&M/Let’s Talk About Sex/I’ll Make Love To You/Feels Like The First Time/No Diggity (The Barden Bellas, The Treblemakers, The BU Harmonics)
6. Bellas Regionals: The Sign/Eternal Flame/Turn The Beat Around (The Barden Bellas)
7. Right Round (The Treblemakers featuring My Name Is Kay)
8. Pool Mashup: Just The Way You Are/Just A Dream (The Barden Bellas)
9. Party In The U.S.A. (The Barden Bellas)
10. Trebles Finals: Bright Lights Bigger City/Magic (The Treblemakers)
11. Bellas Finals: Price Tag/Don t You (Forget About Me)/Give Me Everything/Just The Way You Are/Party In The U.S.A./Turn The Beat Around (The Barden Bellas)
12. Toner (Instrumental Suite) (Christopher Beck, Mark Kilian)

Anyhow, I’m just saying, if your interests are similar to mine — and they probably are if you read this blog — you must see this movie! When we were walking out of the theater, we just kept saying how we already wanted to watch it again. It’s that good!

My friends and I were able to see a pre-screening of this movie and seriously, BEST FREAKING MOVE EVER!!!! I laughed so much that I am pretty sure I missed half of the funny stuff because I was still giggling at something that already happened. And yes the music was incredible. I grinned like a freak during that last song. My only problem with it: I wish I had mad singing skills so I can join one of those groups.
I am so glad you two enjoyed it as well! Now the question is: Are you going to be seeing at again when it comes out because I know I am!

I just went to see Pitch Perfect last night. It was fantastic!

Rebel Wilson was definitely a scene stealer. She was amazing, and had some of the very best lines (and she delivered them perfectly).

But the whole cast was great, and I loved all the singing, too. It is definitely a movie I want to own when it comes out on DVD, and also one that I would love to watch again immediately.

YES! We just saw this last night and loved it!! Can’t stop laughing about it and quoting it now this morning. (Which, of course, our significant others think is weird/adorkable since they didn’t go see it with us.) Was it perfect? No. But was it immensely entertaining? Heck yes!

I already want Pitch Perfect on DVD and cannot stop listening to the soundtrack. Skylar Astin is so hot and I just found out he was in Spring Awakening so now I’m listening to that soundtrack as well.

I definitely adore Anna Kendrick. I may have not watched her very first show, but the moment I saw her on Twilight I instantly loved her. She’s so talented that I prayed for her to win the Best Supporting Actress award for Up in the Air during the Oscars. She was one of the youngest to be nominated in that category!

This movie will definitely go to my must-watch list. And it’s a musical to boot.
