Things I Like in Books 10

Awful drawings of things I like in books

NOTE: I am ridiculous and started a list called “Things I Like in Books.” These are drawings of the things on that list. Truly AWFUL drawings. I am now going to share them with you one at a time. Mostly on Saturdays. Okay, here we go.

I like it when books involve nature and/or have nature-lovin’ main characters.

Examples: First, I like books with lush gardens, a la The Secret Garden (of course) or Born Wicked. One of my favorite settings!

But I also love main characters who love to be outside. Elizabeth Bennet, for example, is perhaps my all-time faves, but what I love most about her is that she’s always down for an invigorating walk. You go, girl!

PS: The only thing worse than an awful drawing is a PICTURE of an awful drawing. My scanner is broken, but after a letter from my mom complaining about my lack of drawings last week, here we go!

ha! love this feature, and I agree about lush gardens. The Secret Garden really caught my imagination when I first read it. I’m not into gardening really, but I could imagine what it would be like to love planting and nurturing beautiful flowers and bushes, and the healing power such a careful act had on the characters! Makes me feel all weepy just thinking about it.

Ah, what a lovely drawing! That’s definitely fridge-worthy. It reminds me of The Sound of Music but with better fashion.

And the ones that run outside! Except for the whole running part because my knees ache just reading about running hills.

Ooh, I am in complete agreement! LOVE it when characters enjoy things like taking walks or hanging out in gardens. (Probably explains why I always enjoy romances where the characters spend time in the garden/maze/next to a lake…)

Every time I go out for a long walk in nature, I ALWAYS think of Elizabeth Bennet. Walking three miles to see her sister was nothing even though her mother was horrified.
