The Adventures of Book Girl

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No! It’s BOOK GIRL!

This extraordinary superhero has been to outer space.

And back in time.

And has fought her way through countless apocalypses.

With the power of literature behind her, she can do anything!

Book Girl’s secret talent is that she’s immune to boredom.

Her vocabulary is obviously her strongest weapon — her enemies cower in the face of her words.

Every new book is an exciting adventure for Book Girl!

Okay, okay. So Book Girl isn’t your typical superhero, but I created her as my reminder that the “powers” that come from being a bookish girl are not to be underestimated.

Books make me feel as daring as the characters I read about, help me better understand the world around me and offer me the ultimate escape. Literature, my friends, is powerful.

Today, on my second blogoversary, I just wanted to say thank you to you all for reminding me on a daily basis that books can help make even my lowest days feel extraordinary.

I second this! I found your blog a while back and follow you on both it and twitter in order to keep up with great new books to read. A LOT of the books I’ve purchased in the past year or so have come for your reviews. Most recently, THRONE OF GLASS (starting it tomorrow! was saving it for a long road trip).
