NOTE: I am ridiculous and started a list called “Things I Like in Books.” These are drawings of the things on that list. Truly AWFUL drawings. I am now going to share them with you one at a time. Mostly on Saturdays. Okay, here we go.
I like it when there’s not a love triangle.
Latest example: I just reread Incarnate by Jodi Meadows…and that struck me as the type of book that is ALWAYS a love triangle, and I really appreciated that it wasn’t. Who knows what will happen in the sequel though. AHH!
PS: Holy cow I cannot draw boy hair.

That is so true! I love a good ol one guy story! Especially when the guy and the girl have been bffs for a while!

I love when there aren’t any love triangles, too! I really dislike love triangles, honestly.
I think your drawing of boy hair is pretty good. Better than mine, surely!

So on my blog, I have two labels about triangles. The first “Love Triangles SUCK” and “Love Triangles that DON’T suck!” lol love this drawing

I’m so glad I found your blog Anna. I read YA stories (and I’m 42!) and am a writer for a living (non fiction) so after decades of piddling, have begun writing fiction in the genre I like. I always thought I was a Jodi Picoult/Anita Shreeve fan but while I sometimes read those, the ones I DEVOUR are YA ones. I had JUST thought to myself last night that I was making a mistake having a 1 guy/ 1 girl story and was going to perhaps weave a #3 in there and then I see this! Thanks for confirming I should go with my gut. Mine is a dystopian society story so there’s enough crazy to go around without adding a third wheel. lol

Love the series. P.S. My definition of girl hair is to put a bow on top. My definition of boy hair is to leave the bow off. Makes life really simple.

As much as I love love triangles, I agree with you. It’s hard to find a story that doesn’t have one and a good (love) story doesn’t NEED one.
By the way, I love that drawing. Did you draw that digitally?

I agree! I have read a few with love triangles I liked (Throne of Glass, for example), but when it doesn’t have a love triangle, I enjoy a book even more!

Agree! There are so many love triangles these days – I get the reasoning behind it but it’s nice to get a break from it.
Also, your blond boy has nice hair! You draw much nicer stick figures than I do.

I don’t like love triangles either, but the ONE book I’ve read where I didn’t mind it is Throne of Glass. I mean, hello fun boys. I knew immediately who I liked & who I was turned off by. Choal is so much .. quieter.. with his friendship with Celaena that it didn’t feel all HEY HERE’S A LOVE TRIANGLE ALL UP IN YOUR FACE.
