Matched by Ally Condie Review

Last year for Christmas, one of my best friends give me Matched by Ally Condie. I’d heard sort of mixed reviews, so I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up, got sucked in, loved it, and immediately ran to purchase the sequel Crossed on my Kindle, then read and devoured that one too!

Of course, as with all YA books these days, it’s got a pretty major triangle.

So I asked my Twitter stream, Ky or Xander?

I finished Matched and Crossed… and am not sure I can pick!!

I spent half of Ann&theFrenchKiss wanting to hit Etienne upside the head.Too many weeping girls in his wake.

I’ll tell you what I think after you finish it, though :)’

*tries to hold tongue* XANDER. (though it seems lots of peeps like Ky)

But that is the point of love triangles!! You are SUPPOSED to feel all torn in different directions and occasionally weepy.

They’re both awesome buy Ky’s my favorite :)

I got my daughter the same book! She is so excited!

ooohh! Let me know how it is!!

YOU FOOLS! Ky is the clear answer! How are you possibly torn? And don’t even get me started with Miss Sash up there, being all “TEAM XANDER 4-EVS” and such.

Anyway, as you can tell from my ALL CAPS I totally enjoyed these books. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. If you love dystopian/sci-fi/romance, you should grab Matched and Crossed by Ally Condie. I cannot wait for book 3, Reached. Seriously, I already googled it 500 times and am so sad there’s not even a description yet. Gahhh!

I almost put Matched down. I felt like the first half was moving way too slow for me. But as she started to fall for Ky, I started to fall for Ky, and the rest was history. I devoured Crossed a few weeks back myself. Still a Ky lover forev’s. Cant’ wait for the next book either.

I just bought these books for my kindle, too, and now I’m all excited and whatnot. I’ve read a bunch of mixed reviews as well, so I’m not really sure it’ll be my thing, but what’s the harm in giving them a whirl, right?

Whaaaat?! TEAM XANDER!!! Really, does Xander even have a shot with Cassia? I don’t think so. If this is a love triangle, it’s definitely lopsided toward Ky, but I am still cheering for Xander :) And did you see the Shelf Life interview with Ally Condie on ew.com? She talked some about Reached!

Hahaha! My signed copy of Matched from Ally is personalized with, “Em, Do not go gentle. Team Ky!”

I love it! He is clearly the obvious choice! :) Love this post by the way, Anna! Sorry Sash! Xander

Clearly from the Good Boy vs. Bad Boy debate yesterday, everyone should know that I’m Team Xander (and you should be too!) :D

Ky was the clear choice in Matched. I grew to dislike him in Crossed though – so I need to read Reached before I can make a final decision, especially knowing what I now know about Xander.

Did you enjoy Crossed as much as Matched? I liked Matched more, but I’m so anxious to see what happens in Reached. I love Ky, but I am sad all these best guy friends keep getting sidestepped. Xander does need some love, too. :)

I only read Matched, but one of the things that bothered me is that it seems like it is set up that she’ll end up with Ky or Xander (and let’s admit it here, it’s going to be Ky) – I like to think that a girl should have more options than the two boys who showed up as matches on her screen. I’m hoping that Condie surprises me down the line, but I’m not sure yet if I’m ready to commit to reading more. Glad you liked it though! Hundreds of t(w)eens in my library system are reading it this year as part of our Battle of the Books – maybe that will inspire me to read on….

I didn’t like Crossed as much as Matched, but I still enjoy the series. And I’m sorry, but it’s totally all about Xander :P
